What this screen shows
The dashboard is the starting point in FutureClear. It shows an overview of the financial picture configured in the app, with quick access to the main areas: profile, assets, and scenarios.
The page is divided into three zones: the spotlight section showing a pinned scenario chart, navigation cards for profile, assets, and scenarios, and a contextual next-step prompt.
How to read it
Spotlight
The spotlight section at the top shows a chart for the pinned scenario. Pinning a scenario keeps its projection front and centre without navigating to the Scenarios page.
The chart displays projected total assets over time based on the assumptions in that scenario. Below the chart, metric pills summarise key figures:
- Final Assets — the projected value of all assets at the end of the modelled period
- Avg Annual Spend — the average yearly spending across the modelled period
- Period — how many years the scenario covers
- Scenarios above zero — from the Monte Carlo simulation, the percentage of runs where funds lasted the full period
If no scenario is pinned, this section prompts the user to pin one from the Scenarios page.
Navigation cards
Three cards sit below the spotlight:
- Profiles — shows name and age (and partner's, if added). Click through to update profile details.
- Assets — shows total asset value across all categories (investments, property, secure income, other income) with an allocation bar. Click through to manage the asset register.
- Scenarios — shows how many completed and draft scenarios exist, plus the name and date of the most recent simulation. Click through to create or review scenarios.
The total shown on the Assets card includes wealth assets only — pensions, ISAs, investment accounts, cash, and property. Income sources such as employment and State Pension are tracked separately and do not contribute to this figure.
What's next
This section shows the next action based on setup progress. The prompts adapt as setup advances:
- Set up your profile — appears if no profile exists yet
- Add your first asset — appears once a profile exists but no assets
- Create your first scenario — appears once assets exist but no scenarios
- Continue draft — appears if an unfinished scenario exists
- Pin a scenario — appears if completed scenarios exist but none are pinned
Once all setup steps are complete, this section prompts creation of a new scenario.
Controls
To pin a scenario, navigate to the Scenarios page and click the pin icon on any completed scenario. Only one scenario can be pinned at a time — pinning a new one replaces the previous selection.
What it does not tell you
The dashboard chart shows the pinned scenario only. It does not compare multiple scenarios or show the range of possible outcomes. For side-by-side scenario comparison, use the Scenarios page.
The metric pills on the dashboard show high-level summary figures. They do not show the year-by-year breakdown behind those figures. For detailed figures, open the scenario and navigate to the Results page.
The "Scenarios above zero" figure is a Monte Carlo result. It reflects the percentage of simulated return paths where funds lasted the full projection period under the pinned scenario's assumptions. It does not represent the likelihood of a specific outcome.
